How to Share Text Between Devices Instantly
Move a caption, link list, or command between devices using a room invitation or QR code, with clear limits and no automatic clipboard access.
Woff field note

You have a caption ready on your laptop and need it on your phone. A temporary Woff room gives the text one destination that both browsers can open, without installing an app.
The transfer is explicit: paste text into the room, send it, then copy it on the other device. Woff does not read your clipboard in the background or keep two devices’ clipboards synchronized.
1. Send the text from your first device
Open a new room, paste the text into the composer, and send it. A short message is enough for a caption or address. Choose Note when you need headings, a checklist, or several sections.

Next step: copy this into the post draft and check the link.Wait for the entry to appear as sent. If the app shows a connection or upload error, resolve it before leaving the first device.
2. Open the full invitation on your second device
Use the room’s invitation control to copy the full link. Send it to yourself through a channel you already use, or display the invitation QR code and scan it with your phone’s camera or Woff’s scanner.
Use the full invitation for normal sharing. A short code only works for temporary pairing when the owner enables it; it is not a lasting substitute for the invitation link.
Open the destination in a browser on the second device. Recipients do not need a Woff account. Keep the link private because it grants access to the room.
3. Copy into the app where you need it
Use the text entry’s copy action, or select the text you need, then paste into your final destination. Check line breaks, punctuation, and URLs before publishing or sending.
For a command or code snippet, use a fenced block with a language label so formatting is easier to inspect. Do not put credentials or tokens into a room just to move them between devices.
When the transfer does not appear
Check that both devices opened the same full invitation and that the first entry was sent successfully. If a browser disconnected, refresh and inspect the saved room contents. An expired or revoked invitation needs a fresh link from the owner.
For a private note, sharing the room does not grant another browser editing access. Move text as a room message or a shared note when the second device should read it; do not share a recovery key as a reading invitation.
Keep a copy of anything that matters
Standard rooms expire after 48 hours without activity. Fixed-expiry Pro pilot rooms, where available, end after their stated 7- or 30-day deadline. A successful transfer should finish with the text saved in your final app or a local file.
